Winter morning skincare routine

Winter morning skincare routine

Canada’s winter has come. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, my skincare for this winter has become more streamlined.

Step 1: Use face cleanser

I first clean my face with a low-ph facial cleanser. Since my face is usually dry when I get up in the winter, I don't use a powerful cleanser in the morning which can make the redness or dryness even worse. I usually clean my face in the morning with a mild cleanser(EFFACLAR GEL Gentle, soap-free purifying face gel cleanser). Sometimes I just wash my face with clean water. There is a scientific basis for washing your face with water, especially for people who are dry skin, washing your face with water will not irritate the skin.

Step 2:Serum

This step can actually be omitted, mainly depending on personal needs. If you often use a functional serum at night. And the description of this serum shows that it may be better to use it once in the morning and evening. Then you can add this step in the morning. If you have oily skin or acne-prone skin. Then I do not recommend that you use serum, it may aggravate your acne in some cases. At least I have encountered this situation myself. Therefore, if you are suffering from acne for a long time, it is recommended to ask your dermatologist whether it is appropriate to use serum products. I occasionally use a Moisture essence such as Decorte Moisture Liposome when my skin is in a stable state and I am not currently using any other functional essence.

Step 3: Face Cream

Applying face cream in the morning in winter is an important step. But I don’t recommend applying heavy creams, especially for oily skin. This will make your skin look very oily. If you have used the moisturizing serum in the previous step. Then you can use regular effective moisturizer for this step.If you passed the previous step, then you can choose a cream that is not heavy in texture but has a very good moisturizing effect. Like Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream. This cream has a gel texture, but the moisturizing effect is very good. Therefore, it does not mean that only heavy texture moisturizer has a good moisturizing effect.

Step 4: Sunscreen

Wearing sunscreen is an important step, especially before going out. If you are going to be at home for the rest of the day, you may choose to skip this step. But if you need to go out. Then you'd better put on sunscreen. I usually use sunscreen with an SPF between 20 and 50. Sunscreen is an inexpensive skincare product that has some anti-aging benefits (as long as you always wear it before going out). Even in winter, the outdoor UV index is still not lower than in summer. Therefore, it is necessary to remember to apply sunscreen when going out.

Step 5: Lip balm

Canadian winters often cause my lips to be very dry, so I apply lip balm to protect my lips. Especially if I need to put on makeup that day, I will apply lip balm before putting on makeup.
